Bougainvillea should be planted on higher ground or hillsides, not in water-logged or low areas where water might collect. They will grow best when given enough space to spread out, and should be planted in an area that will allow them a minimum of 5-6 hours of sunlight every day.
Bougainvillea blooms mostly during the months of November to May. The good old bougainvillea, with its vibrant blooms, has been a regular sight in the gardens in Kerala. This thorny and ornamental vine stands out for the motley of colours that add oodles of charm to a garden
Bougainvillea likes it dry. It prefers a good, deep watering every three or four weeks to frequent shallow waterings. Give a bougainvillea too much water and it can get fungal diseases and root rot. Bougainvillea blooms better when kept on the dry side.
